Cause Spotlight: Muscular Dystrophy Association of Nebraska

Angie Connell, executive director for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) of Nebraska, recently sat down to tell us about their wonderful organization and how Proseeds has helped further their mission.

“Implementing Proseeds was beyond simple! We were given everything we needed!” Angie said. “This is a great way for supporters to be able to donate without having to go out of their way.”

MDA of Nebraska uses the money they raise through Proseeds to help over 1800 families in their area by funding research and providing summer camp to kids ages 6-17 at no cost to their families. At MDA Summer Camp, kids with muscular dystrophy and other related muscle-debilitating diseases are free to enjoy camp activities like horseback riding, swimming, and fishing– all without barriers.

“Camp has a major impact on our kiddos,” Angie said. “In a survey, 97% of parents said camp made their kids more confident and gives them a sense of independence.”

MDA is one of the top fiscally responsible nonprofits in the United States. They represent over 43 different neuromuscular diseases and currently have more drugs in the pipeline than in the last 50 years combined. Three drugs have recently been approved for treatment of two of our diseases they cover.

To help fund MDA of Nebraska’s research and camp activities, you can support them on Proseeds. Sign up for free by selecting your favorite causes and linking your existing credit or debit cards. Then, every time you visit a participating business, they will donate 5% of your purchase back to support your favorite causes – at no extra cost to you.
